Theodore B. Bell
About
Theodore B. Bell is an accomplished litigator with more than 25 years of experience pursuing complex civil cases on behalf of consumers, small businesses, and other parties harmed by corporate misconduct. His practice centers on class actions, mass arbitrations, and coordinated mass proceedings, including antitrust, consumer fraud, data breach, data privacy, and product liability matters.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Bell has represented plaintiffs in high-stakes litigation against some of the largest and best-resourced corporate defendants in the country. He has been involved in all aspects of litigation, from pre-suit investigation and strategic case development through pleading, motion practice, discovery, expert coordination, class certification, settlement, and trial. In his class action practice, Mr. Bell has been involved in cases resulting in more than $100 million in class settlements.
Before joining Sultzer & Lipari, Mr. Bell practiced with a litigation boutique, where he represented plaintiffs in class actions, mass arbitrations, and other coordinated proceedings involving consumer fraud, product liability, data-breach, and data-privacy claims. He also spent more than 12 years at a nationally recognized plaintiffs’ class action firm, litigating antitrust, consumer fraud, and securities-related class actions.
Mr. Bell also has significant experience representing corporate plaintiffs in antitrust opt-out litigation arising from major class and multidistrict proceedings. Earlier in his career, he handled insurance fraud, coverage, and commercial matters, as well as a broad range of civil litigation.
Mr. Bell earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Michigan, as well as before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Ninth Circuits, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
