Toll Brothers Smart Home Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based Toll Brothers, has filed a lawsuit against two Connecticut-based security companies, Security Systems Inc. and Safe Home Security Inc., in Connecticut state court. The suit alleges that the defendants failed to disclose a $5 million consumer protection settlement while negotiating a $12.1 million purchase of customer accounts, leading to consumer complaints and aggressive collection notices. The lawsuit claims breach of contract, conversion, misrepresentation, tortious interference, and violations of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act, with some claims already dismissed by a Connecticut judge.

Among the representing Toll Brothers is Joseph Lipari, managing partner of Sultzer & Lipari and a trial attorney who represents businesses and individuals in high-stakes litigation and arbitration, according to his firm biography. He is based in New York. Lipari's work includes representing clients in suits stemming from catastrophic events, patent and trademark disputes, and complex commercial disputes, the firm bio says. A Seton Hall University School of Law graduate, Lipari previously worked at Littleton Joyce Ughetta Park & Kelly LLP.
